Cat beats the credit crunch

A cat that lives in an unmanned railway station in Kinokawa in Japan has turned the fortunes of the city around, the cat, which was born in the station, had been brought up by a neighbouring store until it was old enough to go it alone.

She now patrols the station wearing a mini railway uniform; because of the publicity that she has gained through the media has attracted over fifty five thousand more passengers to railway, and in the process has been credited with bringing in nearly seven million pounds to the local economy.

The cat that has been named Tama has been officially named station master by the railway company and has even found a sponsorship deal estimated to be worth over a million pounds, which will go towards paying her salary, cat food!
